How was your weekend?
Any thing special for July 10th, 11th and 12th in Michigan?
With nearly 3,000 acres in a rural portion of northwestern lower Michigan, the weekend was rich in history at the largest USA land-based African American resort. It was the beckoning of the annual Idlewild Music Festival and a chance to experience the excitement shared by families who traveled to the resort and countless entertainers from years gone by.
With temps near 80, few mosquitoes and a cool gentle breeze, Idlewild Lake and Williams Island echoed in music and history. Enjoyed by attendees and welcomed by the residents who shared stories, food and hugs; the weekend paralleled a feeling of being able to step into cultural footsteps for the many talented artists.
In case you missed it this year, save room on the calendar for 2016.
If you look close enough you’ll probably discover a rose somewhere on the premises sprinkled with a ‘T’.
