Outside of his professional and academic careers, Deon Yates is a professional jazz musician and recording artist who enjoys traveling around the world with his wife.
The communication and public relations professiona is a former senior videographer and graphic artist and a featured lecturer in the S.O.A.R. program at Macomb Community College in Warren Michigan. Yates also acts as the production-public relations and communications manager for Family Circle Productions Incorporated and the Moss-Yates Foundation, organizations that he operates with his wife in Detroit.
In 2015, Yates was nominated for a National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Emmy Award. While at Macomb Community College Yates produced several award winning pieces including two Gold 2015 Educational Advertising Awards and contributed to the Fall Enrollment campaign which received a Silver Award.
We know him as a gifted, entertaining saxavocalist and a good friend.
